Smudge

Mountain - sea - lake... inspired by watching endless Bob Ross videos when i was at school.
This was my first go with a wacom tablet at Uli’s.

Textures

This background, i did a few years ago for a uni project, when i first started playing around with layers in Photoshop. The texture on the walls were scanned from a small paper bag out of an art shop. You can find great textures all over the place, but now i collect these bags whenever one looks interesting. I'll post up some more examples soon.

Shadow of the Colossus

Computer games may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but this very original game is perhaps the most inspiring game I have ever played. The scenery and scale is just remarkable, so much talent appears to have been poured into the building of the environments and levels, but not just that… the animation (of the horse especially) is just fantastic. if you have a PS2 check it out, a visual treat!

fairy doodles!

These guys were flying around my desktop asking to be bogged. They were quick sketches drawn up for a project that unfortunately never progressed. I believe it was intended for nickelodeon again.

Rugrats !

These are stills grabbed from a 30 second and a 20second we did for Nickelodeon. I got to design and direct, and had good fun animating with Cako Facioli. I created layers in Photoshop and we animated in After effects.
"Eyes off the cookie!"

This weekend I went through a pile of old work, this is why I've uploaded a load of posts all in one go. This post is a bit varied.
Those darn martins just keep coming

Sketch book !

These images I’ve grabbed from a sketch book, I think from 04- early 05. I don’t keep a sketch book at the moment , but scanning these has reminded me I must keep sketching regularly!

The Carousel

Relating again to a previous post, above are images I did for my college project, which screened in the Edinburgh festival 04. It is just a student film and as I watch it again now there are many things I could change and improve , but hey, we must move on !

Christmas... again

december

Its now December and we can officially play Christmas songs! Wooooo!
Because I’m a lazy git when it comes to updating my blog, I thought I would post a bunch of pictures in one go.

This was my attempt at a thumb nail picture. You may notice its not really that small , I find it hard to paint or draw to a tiny scale; something I’m working on.

From a life drawing class in the Tate modern.

A prehistoric sea creature who stalks the Ocean's surface.

In wake of the new Kong film I thought it relevant to post up my Eurovision image. This was a great Theme , loved the excuse to draw anything Kong related... Thought it would be fun to depict the characteristic blonde bombshell in the theme of a 50's pin up (or try).

This I did a while ago for my college film The Carousel, with oil pastels and white spirit on card.

Nutty Bottom

Nutty Bottom was a character created for Nicktoons TV by brain Boyle.

At Uli's studio in Camden we created just over 30 '10 seconds' and 2 '30 seconders'
all were animated in After effects.

if you have sky or digital (uk) be sure to watch out at weekends during the advert breaks.

The backgrounds are Photoshop creations with textured layers.

a squirrel monkey!

drawings !

Here are some sketches... to Dog is from a sculpture in the british museum.

...Must come down !

An airship flying dangerously low.
Initially my intentions were to paint with oils, so I began to sketch up some ideas on the computer first.... But - its soooo much easier on the computer (cutting things up... rubbing them out... etc), I got a bit carried away and didn’t bother.
last year I read a great kids book called Airborn, which just fuelled my fascination further for these fantastic beasts. I urge anyone who can get through Harry potter to pick this book up.

eurovision

The theme 'spaghetti western'. i had spring to mind the scene in 'stand by me' where the main kid is telling the others a story about a pie eating contest, not really relevent to spaghetti western, but what the hell.

science fictiononce upon a time , oil pastels ... a brother grim story ‘the goat and the seven kids‘, the mother rescues her children from the belly of a sleeping wolf, she cuts him open- and fills his belly with large rocks. He later drowns in a well!

horse
